Extreme: Bacurau

Jury Prize - 2019 Cannes Film Festival
Variety Magazine called it “an almost Buñuelian science-fiction thriller, shot to look like a spaghetti Western”. Co-director/writers Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles’ Bacurau is a South American riff on The Most Dangerous Game where rich white hunters arrive in a village that has been erased on every map.  With more than a casual nod to legendary genre filmmaker John Carpenter, is political, violent, surreal, darkly funny, psychedelic and yes it has bandit gangs, ghosts and UFO’s.
